ENG Unlike most childcare sharing models that we could assess so far in benchmarking for the H2020 Families Share CAPS project, SittingAround in the U.S. is not a one-to-one solution but a network based on the creation of neighborhood co-operatives. The service, monetized through the payment of a fee to subscribe to the platform only, is then articulated around a real equal time exchange, where the counterpart of every committed hour involved is the right to a one-hour credit.
To guarantee the proper functioning of the groups, a moderator is assigned to each zone, who intervenes in case of doubts or disputes, while the equity of the babysitting hours provided with respect to those enjoyed is guaranteed through a system of exchange of points, which constitute the virtualization of the hours themselves.
An argument that is not addressed – at least explicitly – in SittingAround, and on which it would be worthwhile to open an exchange of ideas, is the one of extended solidarity. If a community takes the decision to disengage itself even partially from the “hour by hour” exchange to support neighbors with particular needs, how would it be still possible to feed trust and overcome the fear of exclusively opportunistic behavior?

A differenza della maggior parte dei modelli di condivisione della cura dei figli che abbiamo potuto visionare nel benchmarking per il progetto H2020 Families Share, SittingAround negli USA non è una soluzione one-to-one bensì una rete che si fonda sulla creazione di cooperative di vicinato. Il servizio, monetizzato attraverso il pagamento di un canone per registrarsi alla piattaforma, si articola poi attorno ad un vero e proprio scambio alla pari, in cui la contropartita di ogni ora impegnata è il diritto ad un credito di un’ora.
A garanzia del buon funzionamento dei gruppi, è assegnato a dei moderatori di zona il compito di intervenire in caso di dubbi o dispute, mentre l’equità delle ore di babysitting prestate rispetto a quelle di cui si usufruisce è tutelata attraverso un sistema di scambio di punti, che costituiscono la virtualizzazione in rete delle ore stesse.
Un argomento che non viene affrontato -almeno esplicitamente- in SittingAround, e sul quale varrebbe la pena aprire uno scambio di idee, è quello della solidarietà estesa. Qualora una comunità prendesse la decisione di svincolarsi anche parzialmente dallo scambio “ora per ora” per sostenere dei vicini con delle particolari necessità, in che modo si potrebbe comunque alimentare la fiducia e superare il timore di comportamenti esclusivamente opportunistici?
